April Waldman-Slone, PA-C, MAPS

April is a dedicated physician assistant (PA) with 34 years of experience in medical and surgical oncology. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville and her master’s degree in surgical oncology from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. April’s decision to pursue a career as a PA was influenced by personal experiences with cancer in her family, motivating her to make a difference in the care of cancer patients and their families.

Known for her compassionate and personalized approach to patient care, April treats each individual as if they were a member of her own family. She values community cancer care for its opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients and their families, supporting them throughout their cancer journey and beyond. Having recently relocated to North Carolina from Florida, April remains connected with many of her former patients, some of whom have visited her in her new location.

Outside of work, April enjoys spending time with loved ones, camping and engaging in creative pursuits such as ceramics and woodworking. She is passionate about traveling and meeting new people and actively participates in a women’s group dedicated to community service. April’s love for animals is evident through her companionship with her two dogs, a golden retriever and a golden doodle.
